Governance

The Regional Council of Governments

In 1971, thirty-eight municipalities joined together to organize a Regional Council of Governments (RCOG) to administer tax collection and enforcement concerns facing the cities and villages. Today RITA serves as the income tax collection agency for over 240 municipalities throughout the State of Ohio. Refer to the RITA Map page to view the list of current municipalities.

Each member municipality appoints its own delegate to the RCOG. Each delegate has one vote on every item that comes before the RCOG, including electing the Officers of the Council of Governments and the RITA Board of TrusteesRegardless of the population or tax collections of member municipalities, each member of the RCOG has an equal say in the operations of the Regional Income Tax Agency.

The RITA Board of Trustees

RITA is governed by a board of nine trustees elected by the Regional Council of Governments. Trustees are elected for staggered three year terms.

Currently, the RITA Board of Trustees consists of elected officials and government administrators from RITA municipalities. All RITA Board members serve on a voluntary basis and meet at least once a month to establish, review, and maintain general operation policies for RITA. The members of the Board of Trustees appoint the Executive Director, who is responsible for the staffing and operations of the Agency.  To view the Board of Trustees meeting schedule and a current meeting agenda, click the links below:
