RITA offers many alternatives to walk-in taxpayer assistance as the May 17 municipal income tax filing deadline approaches

Posted On: Monday, May 3, 2021

Our physical doors are staying closed to the public for now, however, there are still many ways to file an annual return with RITA as the May 17 deadline approaches.

RITA has simplified the online filing process with its FastFile and MyAccount optionsBoth are available at RITAOhio.com.  Individuals can also mail in completed tax returns.  A third option is to visit one of RITA’s offices to drop off either a completed return or  tax documents in a secure RITA Drop Box.  Individual taxpayers using the drop box service should  complete the Municipal Income Tax Drop-Off Sheet (which can also be found at RITAOhio.com) or provide contact information with the dropped-off documents.

RITA will offer a Drive-up Drop-off service at its Brecksville location during regular business hours (8 am - 5 pm) starting May 10.  Without leaving their car, individuals can drive up and hand their completed return or  tax documents to a RITA agent.    (RITA will complete returns for individuals that provide necessary tax documents)

All returns that are e-filed, postmarked or dropped off by May 17th  will avoid late filing penalties.

"We remain committed to make meeting your local tax obligation simple, fair, accurate and professional.  We hope that every taxpayer will find a filing option that works best for them," said Don Smith, Executive Director of RITA.

Taxpayers with questions can call 800-860-7482 during our Call Center Hours.  Phone hours are extended through May 17th to provide you with more options to connect with RITA representatives.
