Before you contact RITA please have your social security number(s), W-2's, and other tax documents on hand. In the event RITA prepared your return, a copy will be made available to you. Please provide the RITA representative ample time to review your tax information. In future filing years, please consider filing electronically using E-File. If you E-File, you will be able to see what you owe immediately.
Yes, if RITA discovers an error on your return and makes a change to the tax amount due, you will receive notification. The letter will contain the corrected liability and an explanation as to why the change was made. However, you will not receive any notification except a bill if your estimated payments are misreported on line 13.
The tax codes of RITA municipalities require the quarterly payments of current year estimated tax if you anticipate owing income tax in excess of the credit allowed for the tax withheld by your employer(s). Payment is not voluntary, but is required by law and due by the date indicated. Failure to pay may subject you to penalty and interest.
At the bottom left hand corner on the back of your billing statement there is a place to amend your estimate. If your estimated payments are not 90% of the tax due may be subject to penalty and interest assessment.
This means that your account contains additional liabilities that are being billed separately because of a payment plan or a legal action.
Yes, you will receive a monthly billing statement for the tax years that are on the payment plan. You will also receive a bill quarterly for your current year estimate and any additional liabilities that are not included on the payment plan.
Contact your collector at 1-800-860-7482 or locally at 440-526-0900, if you do not know your collectors extension use extension 5004. Your collector will be able to generate another billing statement or will give you an address where you can send your payment.
Your collector’s name is printed on your payment plan bill as well as his or her extension.

For individuals, the first quarter is due with your return by April 30th. The second quarter is due on July 31st, the third quarter is due on October 31st and the last quarter is due January 31st.
